Serving as a central hub for trained budget facilitators and champions to coordinate and drive advocacy efforts aimed at influencing public budgeting processes in LREB counties.
Strengthening citizens’ understanding of public finance processes (planning, budgeting, and accountability), supporting civil society organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations to effectively engage with county governments, and building knowledge products to simplify complex budget information for grassroots groups.
Acting as a learning hub for stakeholders in the Lake Region, documenting lessons from interventions, providing spaces for peer learning and exchange among counties, CSOs, and citizen groups, and consolidating experiences to influence regional and national policy conversations.
Enabling active involvement of communities in budget-related dialogues, forums, and campaigns to ensure grassroots voices shape fiscal policies and resource allocation. The hub is also pushing for greater budget transparency, accountability, and inclusion at the county and bloc level. We engage with the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) counties on fiscal, economic, and budgetary matters
Producing budget credibility analyses, e.g., health sector, conducting policy and legal reviews to identify gaps, frameworks, and best practices in key policies and frameworks.
Developing sustainability roadmaps for the hub’s long-term functioning, exploring partnerships with development partners, CSOs, and government for joint programming, and supporting collaborative initiatives (e.g., citizens’ accountability audits and sectoral analyses).
